Patrick Cohën-Akenine is a highly successful student (first prize at the Paris Conservatoire, Ministry of Culture prize, special prize at the Evian Competition...).
He quickly became a leading musician on the baroque scene, renowned for his human qualities and his ability as an interpreter. For several years, he was first violin at the Concert Spirituel, Les Talens Lyriques and Les Arts Florissants, and was regularly invited to conduct orchestras including the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, the Opéra de Rouen, the orchestra of the Escolia Superior de Música in Barcelona, the Orchestre Symphonique d'Orléans and the orchestra of the CNSM in Paris.
Abroad, Patrick Cohën-Akenine is frequently called upon to conduct international orchestras as a specialist in French Baroque music.
In 2000, with François Poly (cello) and Béatrice Martin (harpsichord), Patrick Cohën-Akenine created Les Folies françoises and took over its artistic direction. Over the past 20 years, this baroque ensemble has made its mark on the music scene, asserting its distinctive character through its stage productions, concerts and recordings. In 2008, with Les Folies françoises and the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, Patrick Cohën-Akenine reconstituted Les Vingt-quatre Violons du Roy.
Patrick Cohën-Akenine teaches baroque violin at the CRR de Versailles, where he is responsible for coordinating the Early Music Department. He has also taught at the Paris Saclay CRD for 20 years.
