Maria Picardi, aka Picca, a professional dancer since 1994, has trained with world-class Hip Hop, Popping and Locking teachers, studying with pioneers such as Boogaloo Sam, Don Campbell, Greg Campbell, Junior Almeida, Mr. Wiggles Poppin Pete, Budda Stretch, Link, Niako, Sponky, Momo, Poppin Kris and Storm.
Picca has been representing the Italian hip-hop freestyle scene since 2005, winning several international-level battles, such as the UK Bboy Championship Italia , which saw her compete in the World Finals in England in 2014. More recently, she won the Last Survivor Battle Last Survivor Battle and will be fighting at the finals in Paris in June 2024.
She is currently a judge and presenter at numerous freestyle and choreography competitions throughout Italy and works as a Hip Hop, Popping and Locking trainer at various Italian academies. She is one of the main promoters of Hip Hop culture through educational projects in schools.
A versatile talent, Picca performs all over the world, including New York, Beijing, Paris and London.
Picca dances in opening concerts and on television programmes such as Mediaset, MTV, Rai, Radio 105, Tim, etc. and in commercials for Poste Italiane, Coop, Formula E, Redbull Dance Your Style. She is sponsored by FILA.
Picca contributed to the choreography of Movimento , sharing her energy, virtuosity and unique Hip Hop style. She dances in dialogue with contemporary and baroque dancer Hubert Hazebroucq and the music performed by cellist Aude Walker-Viry.
