Giuseppina Bridelli
Mezzo soprano
Pupil of Scuola dell’Opera Italiana in Bologna under the direction of M. Mariotti, J. Cura or R. Abbado, Giuseppina Bridelli interprated several repertoire characters (Cenerentola, Le Turc en Italie, Le Voyage à Reims…) but also Mozart parts (Sesto or Zerlina, Despina, Cherubino). After being noticed in Concours de chant baroque de Froville in 2012 she started a collaboration with Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu.
She subsequently sang Idamante in Mozart's Idomenée, Enrichetta in I Puritani, Lucia in La Gazza ladra, Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna; Fidalma in Il matrimonio segreto at the Stresa Festival; Carmen in Japan and in Cagliari; Flora in La Traviata on tour in Hong Kong and Rusalka at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Zaida in Il Turco in Italia at the Opéra de Nantes, Angers and Luxembourg; Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari; Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne.
In concert, she sang Dalla Piccola's Cinque frammenti di Saffo and Mahler's Ruckert-Lieder in Bologna, Mahler's Das Knaben Wunderhorn and Tutino's monologue Le Bel indifférent at the Festival della Valle d'Itria. She sang Rota's Mysterium with the Milan Symphony Orchestra (recorded by the DECCA label), Les Mozart de l'Opéra at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été at the Philharmonie du Luxembourg, Scarlatti's Passio secundum Johannes, Donizetti's Requiem at the Festival de Saint Denis...
Giuseppina Bridelli is particularly appreciated in the baroque and classical repertoire. She works regularly with the ensembles Cappella Mediterranea, L'Arpeggiata, Il Pomo d'Oro, L'Accademia Bizantina, La Venexiana, L'Ensemble Pygmalion, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, La Nuova Musica, Auser Musici, Le Concert de l'Hostel Dieu and Stile Galante.
She sang Ernesto in Haydn's Il Mondo della luna at the Monte Carlo Opera; Ippolita in Cavalli's Elena at the Aix en Provence Festival, the Lille Opera and in Lisbon; Clori in Scarlatti's Gli Equivoci nel sembiante and Asteria in Gasparini's Bajazet at the Barga Opera; the title role in Cesti's Orontea and the roles of Ottavia and Virtù in Incoronazione di Poppea in Innsbruck; Amore in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Cavalli's Novello Giasone (Poesia) at the Festival de là Valle d'Itria; Vivaldi's Incoronazione di Dario (conducted by O. Dantone) in Bremen and Beaune; Poppea in Incoronazione di Poppea with the Venexiana (conducted by C. Cavina) in Krakow; El Tiempo and Minerva in La Guerra de los gigantes by Duron (conducted by L. G. Alarcon) at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid; Selene in Handel's Berenice at the Handel Festival in Gottingen; Euridice in Monteverdi's Orfeo in Bremen with L'Arpeggiata alongside Rolando Villazon.
More recently, she has appeared in Il viaggio a Reims (Corinna) at the Rossini Opera Festival, Cosi fan tutte (Despina) at the Florence Opera, Carmen (Mercédès) at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and Luigi Rossi's Orfeo (Aristeo) with the Ensemble Pygmalion at the Opéra national de Lorraine, the Opéra Royal de Versailles, Bordeaux and Caen. She has also sung in the concert version of Le nozze di Figaro in Copenhagen and at the Malmo Festival, in Monteverdi's trilogy (Messaggiera, Nerone, Penelope) in Schwetzingen with the ensemble La Venexiana, in Monteverdi's Vespri with the Ensemble Pygmalion in Amsterdam, Paris, Leipzig, London (BBC Prom at the Royal Albert Hall) and in Cremona (with L'Arpeggiata). Giusepinna Bidelli also gives recitals in Paris, Lyon and New York (Carnegie Hall). With the ensemble Cappella Mediterranea, conducted by L.-G. Alarcon, she was La Messagère in Monteverdi's Orfeo during a world tour (Brussels, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires). She also performed Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Charpentier's Te Deum under the baton of A. Manacorda at the Potsdam Festival; Haydn's Missa in tempore belli (conducted by G. Antonini); Draghi's Il Prometeo at the Dijon Opera, Clemenza di Tito at the Florence Opera; Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria with Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
